David Chiang
Chairman and CEO

As the Founder of Sage-N Research, David has over 21 years of business development, marketing and engineering experience. Before founding Sage-N Research , he was employed by Xilinx, Inc., the world leader in the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) industry where he headed the Strategic Marketing Group and successfully launched the Virtex-2 product family, after heading the IC Design Engineering Group in the CPLD Division. Before joining Xilinx, he was a Senior Design Engineer for Altera Corporation, as well as for the Research Laboratory of Fairchild Semiconductor. He is the inventor and co-inventor of 28 U.S. patents and numerous international patents, and holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Stanley Yang
Chief Financial Officer

Stanley has over 20 years of experience in executive management, corporate finance, business development, and manufacturing operations. Prior to joining Sage-N Research, he co-founded Triscend Corporation, a fabless IC company where he served as President and CEO, and later as Vice Chairman. He led the company through five rounds of private equity financing and raised a total of $68M.  Prior to founding Triscend, he spent 11 years at Xilinx, Inc. where he held a variety of technical and management positions, including the head of the product engineering for the XC4000 product line. He is a co-inventor of a US patent on Configurable System–on-Chip architecture, and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

During his 20 years of global sales and marketing experience, Ali has completed marketing projects in 22 different countries. He was the chief bioinformatics spokesperson for Bio-Rad Laboratories and he successfully launched the NetAffx web site for Affymetrix. He served as Director of Marketing for Neomorphic Software and participated as one of the key team members instrumental in the sale of the company for $70M. He is also the author of the book, Marketing is King! He holds an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester, U.K., a Masters degree in Biochemistry from University College London, and an M.B.A. with a distinction project in marketing from the Manchester Business School in the U.K. He has been interviewed by both the B.B.C and U.C.L.A radio on the subject area of marketing.

De has over 15 years of experience developing hardware and software systems. Prior to joining Sage-N Research, he was Engineering Manager at Network General and successfully developed a high-performance network monitoring platform for the communications industry. Before Network General, he headed hardware engineering for a network processor at Tahoe Networks and Shasta Networks (later acquired by Nortel Networks). Additionally, he served as a Design Engineer at Cabletron and IBM. He is an inventor of 3 US patents, and holds a MS in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

James Candlin
Senior Director of Product Management

James has over 20 years of experience in discovery informatics. Prior to joining Sage-N Research, James  served as head of Business Development and Informatics at Discovery Biosciences Corp. Before that, he was at the Applera Corporation for twelve years, where he led the Data Products Group in the Applied Biosystems division and was Director of Bioinformatics of the Paracel division of Celera Genomics. He has a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. from Bristol University in Mathematics and Physics, and an M.S. in Computer Science from Santa Clara University.

William Chiang
National Sales Manager

William has over 10 years experience working in scientific laboratories and building businesses. Prior to joining Sage-N Research, he worked at Powerzyme as their Chief Scientist. He has also built three start up companies that have become leaders in their field. William was part of the management team at Locus pharmaceuticals that raised $88mn. He is the author or co-author of sixteen patents in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry and thermodynamics. William has a B.S degree with Cum Laude from Cornell university in Chemistry and Mathematics, and a Master's degree and a doctoral degree from Princeton in Chemistry.
